MOBERLY — “🎵They smile in your face. All the time, they wanna take your place. The backstabbers.🎵” Alayna Mason was thrown in the slammer after she Ctrl-Alt-Deleted her best friend, 16-year-old Kayla Huff. The sanguinary ordeal transpired on May 6, 2026 in Moberly, Missouri – a diminutive town with a population of 14,000. It’s about 2 and a half hours east of Kansas City. On the night preceding the crime, Alayna and four friends poured motor oil into Kayla’s gas tank to disable her vehicle. Then they kidnapped her, threw her into the trunk of a stolen deputy’s patrol car, and drove her to the Rudolf Bennitt Conservation Area. Once there, they beat Kayla with a baton before shooting her dead. Kayla’s family reported her missing — igniting a search. Randolph County Sheriff Andy Boggs said Kayla’s corpse was found in a wooded area on May 13, 2026.
Alayna, 20, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and grand theft auto. Then, during police interrogation, she ratted out 🐀 her accomplices. Hunter Ames, 19, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree kidnapping. Christopher Hull, 23, was arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping and tampering with evidence.
Julian Mason, 26, was arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping and tampering with evidence.
And Skyler Powell, 24, was arrested and charged with hindering the prosecution of a felony.
Alayna told jail staff she contracted poison ivy from the wooded area where they dumped Kayla’s body.
Investigators used that information to build their case.
Here’s something interesting: Julian was Kayla’s boyfriend, and Alayna is his half sister.
A motive ain’t clear, but it may have something to do with incest.
Scuttlebutt has it Kayla caught Julian f*cking Alayna so they killed her to keep the dalliance a secret.
Mike Huff, Kayla’s dad, is struggling to cope.
“I just wish I could have my daughter back,” he wrote on social media.
“It’s now been 3 weeks since my daughter Kayla Huff went missing, 2 weeks since she was found, and 1 week since her celebration of life service. It still doesn’t seem real. I have been wanting to post on here thanking everyone who has been there to help and support my family through this, but I just needed time to get my head straight. There are no words that could adequately describe just how much everyone’s support has been to my whole family. Satan was at work bringing pure evil to attack my daughter, but God is working through this and has brought our community together like I’ve never seen before. Please do everything we can to continue to love and support one another so that Kayla’s spirit will live on through us all.”
Mike said a scholarship has been created in Kayla’s name.

I heard the motive was incest. The victims boyfriend and HIS half sister(suspect 1) got caught sleeping together by the victim so they did this heinous act to silence her but as you can see that didn’t work because she had allegedly told people before she was murdered which is why many town folks are saying this is why. As someone who was born and raised in Kirksville Missouri, which is like 45 mins from Mob. I met her a few times, she was a sweet soul. That area is KNOWN for incest, drugs, child abuse, EVERY HORRIBLE thing you could thing of. Kayla was very sweet. No one deserves that, but it 1000% got draught out the way it did because mfs around there like to BURY their skeletons.
