Black teens do ‘Austin Bop’ mocking white boy’s death

FRISCO — “🎵So get up, get, get, get down. 911 is a joke in yo town.🎵” It’s been a rough stretch for blacks in America’s criminal justice system. First, Rick Chow got acquitted for self-defense after he chased down 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack-Belton and shot him dead over a $1 bottle of water. The case was eerily similar to George Zimmerman’s acquittal in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. Then, 19-year-old Karmelo Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison after jurors took a dump 💩 on his self-defense claim in the fatal stabbing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf who put his hands on Karmelo first. Then, a coterie of Karmelo supporters effectuated reprisal by micturating on Austin’s tombstone. Then, Austin’s dad — Jeff Metcalf — unleashed a racist, profanity-laced diatribe against the black community even though we didn’t have sh*t to do with it.
Now a viral TikTok video shows a bunch of black kids pouring salt into the wound of the Metcalf family by performing the “Austin Bop” to mock his death. The conglomerate clip shows the hip-hop teens dancing with imaginary knives 🔪 while making repeated stabbing motions to the chest. To say they’re hittin’ below the belt would be a vast understatement. Yes, Karmelo will spend his young adult years in the penitentiary and his supporters have every right to be pissed about that.
And yes, racist white men did skits at a “Black Lives Matter” rally that show them putting their knees on George Floyd’s neck.
But a kid got shanked at a scholastic event.
Could’ve been your child or mine.
That’s why the “Austin Bop” shouldn’t be condoned.
There’s no point in stooping to their level.
Social media reaction was insane.
One commenter wrote, “They made fun of Trayvon Martin and George Floyd just the same. Never heard anything about that.”
Another chimed in with, “Absolutely disgusting, real classy. And they wonder why we say and view them a certain way.”
A third person added, “I personally don’t find anything wrong with US expressing our feelings. It’s just a dance. There’s no violence. No laws were broken. Just us being us. SO LEAVE US THE F*CK ALONE!”
Scuttlebutt has it artificial intelligence was used in the clips and the dances are fake.
Even if that’s true, is TikTok culpable for allowing these types of videos to go viral?
