You’se a fine mothaf*cka, won’t you back that ass up?🎵” Tyvion Campbell, a high school senior at Chicago Tech Academy, had her diploma temporarily revoked after the chocolate damsel did the splits followed by what was classified as twerking during the school’s graduation ceremony — giving new meaning to ‘Pomp and Circumstance.’ Hell, Tyvion deserves an “A” for that performance. The seductive debacle transpired at the Harold Washington Cultural Center on Martin Luther King Drive. It was also captured on video and has garnered millions of views on TikTok. After hearing her name called, Tyvion strutted to the middle of the stage and dropped it like it’s hot. Then she humped the ground twice à la Megan Thee Stallion. It was without question the sexiest graduation celebration in United States history. Man, the only thang missing were clear stilettos, cash singles 💰 and a stripper pole.
Principal Zataya Shackleford was pissed.
She pulled Tyvion outside and blew a gasket.
“She was beyond angry. Like, livid,” Tyvion told reporters.
It was genuine tears in her eyes, and her mouth was shaking. She was really, really, really, really upset. And she’s like, ‘You need to figure out a way how you’re gonna make up for this. You’re not getting your diploma until you figure out a way how you’re gonna make up for what you just did.’”
Tyvion received her diploma a few days later. “I’ve been telling these people for weeks that I was gonna do a split on stage,” she explained. “It was not a surprise. They just thought I was joking, and that’s the problem. Now, don’t think I’m joking, because I’m not. Honestly, I didn’t think it was a twerk. I thought I was just doing a split. I apologize to anyone who thought it was inappropriate.”
“I am truly sorry,” Tyvion continued.
“But I have no regrets at the same time. I would definitely say make sure you get your diploma first, then do your dance. No matter what, I do deserve this diploma. I worked twelve hard, long years for this diploma and for the education and experience that comes behind it.”
Social media reaction was hilarious.

When asked about the backlash she received online, Tyvion said: “It’s a lot of 50-50 comments. A lot of people think maybe it was a bit inappropriate and others think that it wasn’t anything wrong with it. I just appreciate everybody for giving their opinion.”

Tyvion is young, she did nothin’ illegal and she wasn’t scantily clad.
Music and dance are integral parts of black culture.
Graduation is a big deal.
The way I see it, Tyvion didn’t hurt anyone by gettin’ low.
Was it ill-advised?
Probably.
But no harm, no foul.
Geez people, get a life.

She’s young? The world doesn’t care about your age especially if you’re black. Black parents need to teach their children this. We live in a hypocritical world that holds black people to a different standard then everyone else. There’s a time and place for everything, and a graduation ceremony isn’t the time or place for acting like you’re on a pole.
What she did wasn’t even necessary. When they called her name to receive her high school diploma. All she had to do is to walk across that stage. Shake the person hand the one who was giving out the diplomas. But instead of doing that. She wanted to have her viral video moment. She did it for the attention and for social media for the world to see. Maybe in her mind she thought that was cute. But that wasn’t cute at all. Graduation is supposed to be about achieving and about your accomplishments. If you’re going to graduate from school high or college. Celebrate the right way and do it with pride and dignity. And don’t do none of this foolishness like she did. Because she only embarrass her own self. Don’t do this for the attention. Don’t do this because she wants to go viral. And don’t do this for social media. Because you only make your own self look bad.
The sad part of it is that most of these kids graduate without knowing how to read or write properly. This is not a circus show, this is an event for many students, it has to be formal, traditional and professional, not ratchet. It really looks bad! 🤔🧐

This unfortunately is the new normal for graduations now and it’s very embarrassing. And don’t get me started on some of the graduations we are seeing on video from some of the HBCU’s. This was suppose to be a commencement event and her performance right there was literally a disgrace. I hope she realizes the internet is forever. Four years later when she graduates from college and is interviewing for a job this is what companies are going to see on her social media page or other platforms. Young people today don’t realize stunts like these can ruin whatever future opportunities they could have.

There is more to a person than how in shape she is, how her braces look and her GPA. Her mentality is what matters. Imagine if she was raising a child with her current mind set? What would she had done had the college decided to rescind her entrance due to her actions? I’m all for celebrating accomplishments, but this was too much. When people begin to treat her the way that she presents herself, will she still be smiling?
The video that she posted afterwards shows that her mental state is in line with exactly what she did. She comes off as the type to do stuff for attention and cares nothing for consequences I remember being young and doing stuff, but nothing like this and I pray that she doesn’t put herself in worse situations in the future.
A high school graduation may not be a big deal to some people. However, for other people, a high school graduation is still seen as a serious occasion and a rite of passage into adult hood. Let’s not act like everyone who graduates high school goes on to college. Shoot, some kids don’t even live to see a high school graduation. This ceremony isn’t just for the child, but also for the parent(s) who went through hell and high water to raise a child, and get them to this milestone. As for the girl in question, there is a time and place for everything. A graduation ceremony is clearly not the time or place.
Graduations started changing a long time ago. Gone are the days where flips, splits, and twerking were unheard of. I remember when people wore their Sunday’s best to graduations.

In 1994 my best friend took his diploma without shaking anyone’s hand and I took it a step further and screamed like a banshee and jumped off the stage and took my cap and tossed it in the air and threw my diploma case at it and left without a cap BUT WORTH IT (my class advisor hated me anyway and I did one final act of defiance to the POS who was pissed that I never paid class dues nor did four years of phys ed nor two years of health and my band teacher was a TNUC who hated me from the start because I was a rock and roller NOT a Jazz dude).
Wow, so narcissistic at such a young age. Guess how many schools are gonna have written rules and signed agreements next year before graduation. 🙄
